On this day:

practice makes perfect....and tired

12 mile run in an hour and a half or go to bed? while I do need a long run today (is it considered today or tomorrow when you haven't gone to bed yet?) I think I would be better served sleeping for a bit and running later in the day....12 miles an hour and a half from now will seem like a bad acid trip (even better! a religious acid trip!)....or so I have heard....lol....

And plus...NO ONE IS FILLING ANY OF THE TABLES AT TRUE POKER!

And btw...to the makers of Neurontin, (I think it's Pfizer)....the drug doesn't work....at least for the people without the shakes....

NEWS OF THE DAY

Romeo and Juliet? Not without Leonardio Dicaprio it isn't!

Haggle of a cab price? Just jump out and run!

The tooth fairy would have given him at least $1...$2 for a molar!

This guy is my hero!

Ok, the sun is up....time for bed....

On this day:

ass for dessert

[Listening to: Demonology and Heartache - Atreyu - The Cursed]

Today was "bad luck with dessert's" day for me I guess....Maybe that's what I get for eating dessert when I should be sticking to the low-carb regimen....For Christmas, Becky got me a few different English/Scottish dessert goodies like Scottish Tablet, a Jaffa Bar, McVitie's Digestives and a Traditional Christmas Pudding made by Mrs. Peek's....the first three sweeties I loved....I was saving the Christmas Pudding for a special occasion...or I guess for when I felt like it, because today wasn't all that much of a special occasion. Though our idiot of a president (lower case) was sworn in today....anyways, so a Rum and Brandy "Christmas Plum Pudding" sounded good tonight for dessert....I followed the alternate directions on the package of microwaving for two (2) minutes instead of boiling/steaming it, because that seemed like too much work....it was a bit hot on the first bite, but after letting it cool I was able to actually try the mound of pudding....ass....pure ass....the ingredients say: Mixed Fruit (30%) Raisins, Sultanas, Currants Cider, Sugar, Wheat flour, Malt Extract, Vegetable oil, Candied Orange and Lemon Peel, Bread crumbs, Brandy, Rum, Salt, Mixed Spice, and lemon Oil. The lemony taste really just didn't mix in well with the plum. I forced myself a couple of bites to TRY and enjoy it, but I don't think there is enough Rum and/or Brandy in the world to make that taste good....I also think I microwaved it a bit too long (though I took it out just shy of 2 minutes) because it seemed to get hard....I imagine the pudding was supposed to be moist and not hard and dry! lol...

It's ok though....was the thought that counted! :) But after that, Tara said that she wanted some ice cream....so I drove up to Carvel and they closed 7 minutes before I got there....went to Marble Slab, and they were open a bit longer....I hadn't planned on getting any ice cream, but after seeing all the flavors, I decided to try a new flavor they had called French Custard. The dude behind the counter, as he was scooping my sample, said, "This flavor isn't all that bad." That was my first sign that it wasn't going to be good. I didn't even ask, but he tells me it "isn't that bad"?! Tasted it....ASS....PURE ICE CREAM ASS! Left a nasty aftertaste in my mouth that frankly is still there now....time to brush the teeth....I ended up getting a small scoop of Egg Nog ice cream, though it wasn't that great....I wish I hadn't...back to low carb desserts of Sugar Free Jello and Extra Creamy Whipped Cream! They don't make ass-flavored Jello....

I officially paid for my Organic Chemistry II class today at SAC....$352 for a class ($704 if you add in what I paid for Org Chem I) that I have already taken, passed and don't need to take again...."Why are you taking this," you ask? "No idea", I reply...I guess I enjoy the subject, I enjoy being in class (I admit it....I miss college), and I am still in pursuit of the Organic Chem A! I was just off of it on Org Chem I, but I am determined to get it this time...Speaking of missing college, I need to decide what program I am going to be entering for grad school in Scotland....Research at Stirling Uni or Bioinformatics at Glasgow Uni? I'm torn....

I received my Glow Jack-O Colored XSkn for my 60Gb iPod Photo today....Very nice....a couple weeks too late though, since there are already a few scratches on the silver on the back....and can I just point out that I LOVE my Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter to go along with the iPod?! With XM Radio and my iPod, I have totally eliminated radio (which is crap in SA anyways) and CDs! With the iPod though, I have noticed that I have been listening to a LOT more hardcore music as of late....I LOVE The Curse by Atreyu, and I have just downloaded Slipknot's new album and am quite impressed....

The Apprentice started automatically recording on our digital cable box tonight....I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THE NEW APPRENTICE WAS STARTING YET! We can't go three straight days without a new reality TV show popping up....American Idol's new season is on (how about that Mary Guilbeaux!) as well as the new season of The Bachelor....and who can forget the classic, Who's Your Daddy....and Extreme Home Makeover....and Survivor, The Real Gilligan's Island...and....ENOUGH ALREADY! TOO MUCH REALITY TV....and speaking of, the new season of THE REAL WORLD is being filmed in Austin, TX....can't wait! lol....

How cute are our cat's?

Ok, a few news stories of consequence (or inconsequence) and I am out....

Darth Tater? Come on now....that's just wrong....

Jenna Bush's Biological Father is Satan?

Paris Hilton, Fugitive of the Law!

16lb Baby brings new meaning to the phrase "Ripping You a New One"

Couldn't stop the bleeding eh? Noooooooo.....REALLY?!

PalmOne is being absolutely ridiculous with the Treo 650 GSM model.... (see the Treonauts site as well! lol!)

One last thing....what about the name OUI RIP? How does that sound? Details to come....

On this day:

the pink elephant

I have been blogging lazy....one of my New Year's resolutions was to be more consistent with updating Openintro.com. This means 1) adding a picture gallery, 2) changing the cruddy Blogger template to something MUCH more cool, 3) adding an "I Endorse" section of links which will....link to...well....things I endorse (an idea I always think of when I am at yoga, oddly enough)! 4) And finally and most importantly, updating my blog at LEAST a couple times a week. So hopefully I will get a move on....but considering I have a million other things to do as well, who knows when all this will get done.

My beloved computer decided to have a complete hard drive crash a few days before Christmas, so I have been without an email client and pretty much ALL MY FILES for a couple weeks now. Hopefully I will be sending it off for data recovery soon so that I can save all the data (which would cause me to shed some SERIOUS tears if I couldn't) and reinstall a new hard drive. But that would mean that I have a free $400-$500 to spend right now....and I don't....So if anyone would like to
they are more than welcome :)

I am currently doing a double-blind study at Sylvana Research over the course of the next 35 days or so regarding Transient Sleeplessness and the use of a drug known as Neurontin. The drug is already FDA approved for things such as seizures, but Pfizer is doing studies with SMALL doses of the drug in hopes of releasing it as an over-the-counter drug to help with transient sleeplessness. Since my sleep patterns are not all that great and my insomnia is transient most of the time, I figured I was a good candidate. So I went for Visit 1 yesterday, received the meds (two tablets 30 minutes before bedtime each night) and I have to fill out a questionaire each morning. I get paid $150 at the end of the study, so that should be nice :) I can apply that to my SAVE MY COMPUTER FUND!

So after the Ashlee Simpson SNL incident, you'd think singers would be more concious that every one is looking out for the lip syncing. Not "it-girl" Linday Lohan....she recently went on Good Morning America and had a few screw-ups with the vocals. If you fast forward to about 38 seconds in the clip, you can see where it gets really bad.

How cool would it be to be at the CES conference in Las Vegas? VERY....being the "new gadget" junkie that I am, that would be heaven. And of course, it's in VEGAS! This year I'll just drool at the reviews posted over at Gizmodo and Engadget.

Oh! Bowling for Soup was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday! How cool is that?!

Definitely their best TV performance to date....

Well, I have taken my study pills and I now need to go to bed....maybe they are actually helping me :) Off to fall asleep as I watch the conclusion of Homeless Jeopardy on the Howard Stern Show....better than a bedtime story....
